Course overview

The ISTQB Certified Tester Model-Based Tester course teaches you how to apply formal modelling methods to design, generate, and maintain effective test cases. This approach increases accuracy, improves test coverage, and supports automation—making it ideal for teams working on complex or safety-critical systems.
By combining theory with practical examples, this course helps you develop the skills to implement model-based testing (MBT) in your projects and prepares you to pass the official ISTQB certification exam.

About ISTQB and the ‘certified tester’ scheme
Founded in 2002, ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) is a not-for-profit association comprising 66 national boards (including the UKITB) to provide worldwide coverage
ISTQB has defined the Advanced certification as part of their ‘Certified Tester’ scheme that, with over 240,000 certifications, has become the de facto world-wide standard for software testing qualifications.
The ‘Certified Tester’ scheme:
- Provides a set of professional qualifications widely-recognised by employers, customers and peers;
- Enables software suppliers to hire and train certified testers and thereby gain commercial advantage over their competitors by advertising their tester recruitment and development policies; and
- Enables comparison of testing skills across different countries, testers to move across country borders more easily, and multi-national/international projects to have a common understanding of testing issues.

Interesting and gain an insight of what Model Based Testing is. Trainer is quite knowledgeable and kept us engaged.
Amy Wood | Test Lead | Capgemini –
Course was well thought out. Splitting it up with practice questions and activities helped.

Course was interesting, but practical work didn’t always seem to align with the content – on day 1 it felt like a lot of the content was skimmer over in favour of doing practical work around drawing diagrams, which aren’t examined. Would help if the theory was taught first and then backed up by relevant practical work afterwards.

Angelina was a great instructor, very engaging with a good sense of humour. The course was well paced and was regularly related to issues facing my colleagues. This made the content more manageable and improved learning. Some more practice questions for pre exam revision would have been nice.

Well delivered, enjoyable course that effectively achieved the course objectives. Delivered in a very engaging and participative way.

Good introduction to ISTQB Model Based Testing.
david.lichtensteiger –
Very useful exposure to MBT content, good examples to work through and a good mix of theory vs. practical work. I enjoyed hearing the various experiences Angelina shared with us, and we had many opportunities for questions along the way.
In some places the slides skipped over some of the theory, which was noticed when attempting some of the sample questions in the workbook – so had to skip back and read up on a few things (example – Transformation vs Adaption vs Mixed).

I like her teaching style, lots of real world examples and analogies to help relate to the info which can be a bit dry. Breaks, understanding, humour and explanations when needed
zak.polley –
Very practical course, lots of practical K3 exercises and concise information to the point to help for the exam and to complete the apprenticeship programme
adriano.aru –
The course was very good and Angelina walked us through many different scenarious and was especially helpful and patient due to the fact that I had covid so it was a little harder for me to concentrate.
